He is not supporting us and we were dependent on him financially because he wanted control and did not want me to work. I have used everything I can use to start my own business and to become financially independent as quickly as I can. I have no credit. I'm in need of a loan to help me move forward in my business and life but want to pay back every penny and willing to pay more. I have searched and inquired but there seems to be nothing. Can someone please help point me in the right direction? Thank you

First, check with your local family court. There are free advocate services that can help you apply for child support and alimony. Your ex is at least responsible for his children. Next, depending on the type of business you want to go into, there may be grants available. I would do a google search for government grants for small businesses. I would also suggest starting a gofund me account or a kickstarter page so people can donate to get your business going. The last suggestion would be to find a partner(s).

You can also check out the Single Parents Association of America www.spaoa.org. They have different information to help.

Good luck
