I feel like I'm drowning. My husband is a cancer survivor, but he fears a relapse and doesn't feel well. My daughter (14) has chronic, debilitating migraines that even the best doctors are struggling to figure out and stop, on top of diagnosed generalized anxiety disorder. We are in and out of hospitals and doc offices; each week with a new treatment plan, it seems. Chronic pain has created situational depression for her, on top of the normal hormones for this age.
We are just managing pain, and not always well. She is homeschooled as a result, but I also have to work full-time at home to pay bills.

My two sons (12) struggle with depression and anxiety as well. (All four grandparents were alcoholics with mental health issues). One bright spot is that neither myself or my husband inherited the desire to drink or take drugs, but we did inherit the anxiety and depression. And I sure do understand the allure of wanting to escape the pain and make everything just go away for a while. I don't, though, because I know my family needs me.

We are struggling financially as well. I'm trying to pay off IRS debt from when I worked as a contractor. To pay off credit debt, I liquidated my retirement funds. Even though the financial advisor held money back for taxes, we still ended up with an $8K bill because it put us into the next tax bracket. I've tried to call the IRS on work breaks and when we're not going to doctors, but I keep getting the "We can't take your call right now," message.

I have an immunity disorder that requires me to get an IV treatment once a month so I'm not chronically sick. I also struggle with migraines, which put me totally out of commission - which is a bad thing for my family since I'm generally the one to hold everything together.

I am just so tired... of everything... not being able to sleep at night worrying about losing our home, back taxes, not being able to even stop my children's pain, and struggling to meet responsibilities at work so I can keep my job. We have no family here to help and neighbors and friends all have their own lives and issues. We are on our own.

My house isn't clean or orderly, because it everything we can do to just get through the day, keep the kids in school and put dinner on the table. I sometimes wish there was a reset button for life, where you could just start all over.

I believe in God and Jesus, and pray constantly. We go to church and my beliefs and love for my children are what has stopped me from ending my life. I know it wouldn't help anyone, but would only make things worse - for me and for them - so I keep just moving forward.

In desperation, I Googled Angels and this is what came up. I don't know if anything will come of it, but it's good just to get this all out. I have no one else.

Hang in there. I promise something will come out of all this suffering.

The only thing I can suggest is feeding your mind things that are gonna take back control on the state of your mind, which in turn, takes affect on your physiology.

I am currently learning to do the same as my body has started to shut down on me from ignoring my pain so I have no choice but to confront it at this point.

You are not alone. Ill be praying for you and sending love your way. I mean that.

2 great resources I could give you that makes it easy to start somewhere is getting answers to your questions by those who have suffered too. Oprahs soul conversations podcast, do It, I promise you won't regret it. All of them are great and talk about ways to heal. The second is tony Robbins speeches on YouTube, any of them. He's very good at teaching you how to identify our state's and patterns. He's great overall to help anyone who wants to change their lives.

You may think ya right to those and maybe laugh. But they've truly helped me when I had nothing else and it gave me answers on how to help myself.

I hope they do the same for you. I love you.

I've struggled with emotional problems like anxiety (social anxiety and general anxiety), and depression (including suicidal thoughts), and there's been a lot of improvement for me. I've been doing the 12 Steps of Emotions Anonymous. Part of my continued healing is that I share with others the solution. The 12 Steps of EA are:

1: We admitted we were powerless over our emotions--that our lives had become unmanageable.
2: We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
3: We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.
4: We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
5: We admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
6: We were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
7: We humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
8: We made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all.
9: We made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
10: We continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.
11: We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
12: Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
And there's an additional principle of recovery: We offered forgiveness to those who had hurt us.
