Completely broke, on food stamps. What do I do? I'm a complete burden to everyone I know, and nobody is actually helping me the way I need it. The state thinks I'm a joke. So do charities. The mental wards are full. The only people who sort of understand are my family, who are also broke. How do I get someone to come and help me with chores, organization and finances? All I need is an assistant. Nobody I know has that kind of time or energy. Everybody says assistants help so much with adhd, like your life suddenly opens up. My wife can 't help me with it. She has her own problems. I can't afford to hire one, I'm completely broke. I'm trying to start a small businees, but they gatekeepered me out of medication, and apparently I'm fine because only children have adhd, so no disability benefits. A ******* joke. I've spent my entire adult life trying to become independant. Now it's clear I'll only become independant if  i go die in the woods. My life requires help. I was not born to be independant. Nobody should ever have to be independant. Our society is so backwards! All I need is someone to come over and have a brain that can focus reliably. No special skills, just someone who doesn't have ******* ADHD! How do I find someone?? They would have to not cost me money, because I literally have none. Rest in peace, self. Your body may live due to emergency food and shelter, but your soul is on its deathbed.

Hi,

I have not struggled with ADHD, but I have struggled with mental illness. For years I had mostly anxiety, but for the past several months I've had mostly peace. I've struggled with depression, including suicidal thoughts, and there's been a lot of improvement for me. I've been taking anti-depressant medications. I've struggled with an eating disorder, and today I've had freedom from its symptoms.

I've been doing the 12 Steps of Celebrate Recovery.

1: We admitted we were powerless over our addictions and compulsive behaviors--that our lives had become unmanageable.

2: We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

3: We made a decision to turn our lives and our wills over to the care of God.

4: We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

5: We admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

6: We were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.

7: We humbly asked Him to remove all our shortcomings.

8: We made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to all of them.

9: We made direct amends to such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

10: We continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.

11: We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

12: Having had a spiritual experience as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

Celebrate Recovery, a fellowship of people recovering from hurts, hang-ups and habits.
