Why should I care if my death will upset others?

Question

If my life were important to the people that *might* be upset if I killed myself, then surely they would have tried a hell of a lot harder when I was/am still alive.

Why would I want to take drugs to feel better if nothing will change apart from the amount of chemicals in my system.

I am not looking for a magical fix to my problems, but what is the point?

Hi,

I've struggled with depression, including suicidal thoughts, and there's been a lot of improvement for me. I've been taking anti-depressant medications and a mood stabilizer medication. Also I've been doing the 12 Steps of Emotions Anonymous. Part of my continued healing is that I share with others the solution.


1: We admitted we were powerless over our emotions--that our lives had become unmanageable.

2: We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

3: We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.

4: We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

5: We admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

6: We were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.

7: We humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.

8: We made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all.

9: We made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

10: We continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.

11: We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

12: Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

Sometimes it seems like nobody really understands us, like we are alone. I am not sure of your age or if you have children, but usually it is after we have our own children we see something. Just as much as people were not able to meet our needs, we see that all we can do is try our best to be supportive and help but we cannot fulfill another person. Fight for yourself, you have to try to find fulfillment. I have found fulfillment in Jesus Christ, but I also take medication. Medical drugs help certain people for many reasons. One of the biggest reasons is that some people have a chemical imbalance that causes them to feel anxious and depressed and the drugs bring the chemicals to where they are supposed to be naturally. You would be surprised at how much chemicals in the brain affect a person. I have heard how many people who need this type of medicine often feel that they do not need it, but it is evident to others that they do need it. I hope that you at least try the medicine. Your life is important. It is the only one you will have and it can be better. I am praying for you.

i just wondering, if you ever try to love your own self?
if no one respect you, likes you, wants you, at least u should respect yourself, love yourself and wants to be a good company for yourself.
Don't depend other people.
Your life value is in your own hand. If you could see yourself as the great one, people will start to see it too.
Most people could only see part of you that you allow them to see. So, try to figure out what talent you have, the positive side of you, lovely things about you (there should be there inside of you, you just haven't found it out) and if later you already find it out, don't be shy to show them to all the people around you. I believe, you and the people around will be falling in love with your beautiful soul.
