We are being evicted, my husband is self employed doing what he can to get us by, I am home with our 2 daughters cause we cant afford child care. We are behind a month and a half and need help, what can we do? Its causing us so much stress. Our daughters are 10 years old and 8 months old. There are no childcare openings for our youngest and we wouldnt be able to afford it. My husband does all sorts of odd jobs to get us by, but its not enough. There are no other apartments open in our area that we can afford and we cant move to a different town cause our oldest daughter just got an iep for her schooling. We need help and we dont know what to do.

Try calling 311 in order to find out what government programs may be available to you. Go to your welfare office as well. You may be there a while but you may qualify for childcare assistance so both you and your husband can work. You may also want to apply for government housing. I would also try the salvation army. There is no shame in asking for help.

As far as eviction goes, the law is pretty much on his side if you have not paid your rent. Try to come up with a partial payment of the rent and see if that is enough for him to take it out of the eviction. Ask family/friends if you can borrow money ... It has been rough out there for everyone. Maybe there is someone near by you can move in with until you get back on your feet. Good luck
