I'm 29. When I was 25 I was hit with a rather severe mental illness. In the past four years since this nasty illness has come into my life, I have lost my job, my 12 year relationship, my car, and nearly every single friend I had.

I'm going to therapy right now, I have a case worker, but everything is taking so long to move forward. I haven't worked since February 22nd of this year and I am completely without hope of getting more work. I've been denied social security, I will be appealing this decision asap, but I have not yet.

I live with my ex, his fiance (who is addicted to ****** and prostitutes herself out in my apartment), and their newly acquired dog. I sleep on a couch that is too small for me.

I have sunk so far down into the depths of despair I am not sure how I am going to crawl out again. It feels like every time I try to make my life better, something happens and I just can't do it anymore.

My family are less than supportive-- they're boarderline abusive about my illness, like I'm just doing this for attention.

So, yeah, here I am reaching out and hoping someone out there has some good advice. I have no money, I lost weight so none of my clothing fits me properly anymore, I have poor work history, I don't know how I'd get to work if I did have a job, I am completely trapped here.

I don't want to be. Lacking a support network, I'm reaching online to see if anyone has anything they can suggest. I don't feel sorry for myself-- I just don't feel much of anything at the moment. I'm not suicidal, but I am getting desperate for some relief from this situation.

I wish I were stronger in many aspects, I just don't know how to be.

hi there,

i think youre doing areally positive thing in working with a therapist - having someone who youcan chat to and has a load of experience will prove invaluable to you and by the sounds of it, although its not ideal, you have a relatively comfortable living arrangement .

i think when you get comfortable with your therapy sessions andstart to understand andlive with things, one or 2 pieces of your life will fall into place. you say you've had quite a bit but lost it and i truly believe youre only a couple of bits of good luck away from that again.

stick in with the treatment and i hope someone can offer you some more specific info on this website, but please know that im around on here if you everjust want a friendly chat about anything you like.

id love to hear how things go for you

good luck

hi there,

I am a lot like you but I have kids. I lost a great job and became homeless.
I got a new job I am still homeless but my kids have roofs over there heads food and medical stuff. I hope one day to not feel the way I do. I just take small pieces of comfort in the things that go right during a day.
try to see the light and good even if it just the fact you woke up

If you find an answer let us know. Bad timing has made weakness, devastation for many of us. Those of us whom have been isolated from the normal social order for whatever reason have increasingly become victims, suicides and/or never get the chance to heal. Wish you well, too depridated myself to help beyond well wishes these days. But I too am bullied, abused, and marginalized daily, walked to work for 3 years before finallt escaping to a "better" life which quickly became me giving everything to everyone who said they would hurt me or did if i did not. No one should have to suffer that after the life i've been subjected to. On top of it during yet another rebuild this pandemic solidified complete losses for me leacing me nearly pennyless, a crooked machanic now extorts thousands i no longer have to "fix" a car he keeps breaking things on. Trauma and nonoppurtunity aside im grateful to be indoors but so precarious is this situation i have nearly completely shut down. So anyway, hopeful people are emboldened to speak out as more of our stories become avoidavle tradgedies. Take care out there!
