I just found out my 10 year old daughter had sex while attending an after school program at her school. I am FURIOUS with the school. Why was no one watching these kids? How did this even happen? What did i do wrong? How and when did I screw up as her mother? I became sexually active at 16 and got pregnant with her... I've talked with her about the struggles we faced. She even remembers the nine months I ate nothing but top ramen so she could have everything else I could afford since the only job I could get at 17 was min. wage. She KNOWS all of this. She lived the struggle with me and we talk about it a lot. I've read you are supposed to keep an open line of communication with your kids about sex so I did and I answered all of her questions and I told her how her father and I feel about sex before marriage and everything... but it still happened... and at ten f***ing years old.  I failed her. I have two younger daughters too... am I going to make the same mistake with them and let them down too? What do I even say to her? Just.... what do I do

I don't think you failed your daughter as a mother and even though she seems well educated maybe she just wanted more 'information'. I think you need to have a calm conversation with her and ask her why she did it, it may be a situation she didn't want or one she won't want to do again because of the experience. She may be going through a really hard time at the moment because of the situation and she may feel like she's disapointed you when she didn't mean to. Try to explain your point of view and let her explain hers but a conversation like that won't work if one isn't letting the other talk or you're not listening to one another.
