I am so close to being ok.I just need a small push to get on my feet. I am a social service worker and I have huge plan that will benefit our nation. It's hard to move forward with these plans when I can't even support myself. I can't afford all the payment I have every month for debt I I had before employment. I am drowning. $3000 would take care of everything besides my student loans.  I have tried taking out loans but my credit is so bad no one will lend to me. I have worked so hard to get to where I am at now.

If anyone can give me any information on how I can get myself and my girls out of this whole please take the time to e-mail me. Thank you Cory

Hi Cory

Call your creditors and try to lower your interest rate, or work out a payment settlement. Many will reduce the debt - they prefer to get something rather than nothing if you file bankruptcy. Contact your student loan provider and work something out. There are hardship deferments and there are new programs set in place that may even mean you don't have to pay them back. If there are federal loans, as a social worker you should be entitled to debt forgiveness. I would contact the VA to see what benefits/ resources are available to you as a military spouse. It doesn't matter that you left. You should still be entitled at least to education benefits and insurance. It doesn't hurt to ask. If things go so bad, you can file for bankruptcy. Legal aid can help you or find a nonprofit org specializing in bankruptcy. Also, check out www.usajobs.gov. There were a lot of listings for social workers and you should qualify for prefer status because your spouse was in the military. With a little luck, you can find a higher paying job. Last, go to www.spaoa.org. It is the single parents association of America and they offer all kinds of assistance. Joining the organization is free.

Good luck and stay strong for your girls
