I think I am a addict to online games. I've been lying to my friends and family since I graduated from highschool and maybe even during the last year of it. I dropped out of university in the first half year because I was playing all day long and the work just piled up and eventually I couldn't catch up so I gave up. but I kept going to school to make it look like that Im doing ok. Eventually my parents found out and made me go to conselling. Again I tricked them and letting them believe I was in that back to school program which I really wasn't. and to everyone else I've met whether in university or friends from highschool, I just disappeared from their lives. I was never very social because I was always afraid to speak my though because I wasn't confident enough? didn't fit in. I had alot of online "friends" during the past few years which I never had in real life. but I lost contact with most of them after each game was done playing, so yeah I dont really have any real friends left. I tried to go into a trades program after 2 years staying at home doing nothing but playing and chating online, but it turned out just like it did when I was attending university. It's just my parents doesn't know that yet and I'm too afraid to tell them the truth because I know they would be disappointed eventhough they've never gave up on me. So now I have no education, no experience, no social life, and from where I can see it, no future.
I know what I should do if I want to get back on track is to get a job first even if its a casheir to get my bills paid first, make some real friends on the way, and its not too late to get education. Sounds easy but after all of that's been done, I very much doubt myself could get it done. I have thought about ending my life and did occasionally hurt myself but logic always kicks in. It would hurt my parents deeply, and I still haven't give up hope yet. I'm really struggling inside. Please help me.

Dear Izzy I to love games and online so I can understand where you are coming from. However if you could put them fun things into a schedule you could make it work. For example, why not work then after work play games or play games all weekend. Have work during the week and non stop gaming relaxation and maybe even a sleep in on weekends. Unfortunately It can be hard to find the fun in work and or learning programs. But sometimes we have to do the crappy stuff so that we can have fun in life. I strongly suggest you to find out what you want to be then go for it then you could buy more games for the weekend and your parents will be proud of you. Also prayer and faith can always be of help to.

Great!  You did just fine.  Yes you need help, and you asked for it at the end!  (I was being cheerful.)  You  really did have a load to get off your chest.  I cannot imagine carrying around just the emotional struggle of gaming all day and hiding it from your parents.  You may think that others don't have issues that they struggle with, but we do.  We all do.  The one person that I found could help me with mine was God, and he helps me during the day.
Now, you may be asking why you need God and why God would want to help you.  First, God is holy.  "In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. "
(Isaiah 6:1-3)
Second, as you know, we are not like him.  Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."  And sin has judgement.  Revelation 21:8, "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. "
Third, because he made the way to be saved from that judgement and because he loves us.  John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."  "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. "  (Acts 4:12)  Hebrews 1:8, "But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom."
If you have not been saved from your sin, you need to confess that you are a sinner and that you believe and trust that he can save you.  Romans 10:9, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. "
The thing is, after you are saved, you are to be serving God.  Ephesians 2:10, "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. "  So he made us a way to get rid of addictions.  "That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. "    (Ephesians 4:22-24).  Put off, renew, put on.  You cannot just take away, you have to study scripture and pray, then replace it with something else.  If you just take off, you will create a vacuum.  And remember, it has to be done in Christ's strength, for "without me ye can do nothing."  (John 15:5)
