Hi
I have not been in an abusive relationship, so cannot actually say I know how you feel. I can only imagine how you are feeling ... EVERY ending hurts. It hurts because it means a part of us has "died" - we have changed. We are no longer that person, and now what? Now, you are trying to figure out who are and who you want to become. It is natural to feel confused, lost, and alone. But you are not alone. We are never alone.

Please do not ever doubt your decision to leave. It had to be done. The abuse would have gotten worse and it would not have ended well for either of you. A toxic relationship can never work no matter how much love you feel for each other. Maybe this will be his wake up call to get better, to want to change. Right now, your focus needs to be on you not him. Picking up the pieces, and rebuilding your self-esteem. Abuse eats at your very core; it is soul crushing. I have seen it.

I ADMIRE your bravery and your willingness to WANT to talk about it. Many women simply just want to disappear or end going back to their abuser because they feel ashamed, as if it was their fault. The abuse was in no way your fault. Besides, trying to assign blame is not going to help. I have volunteered for a domestic violence clinic so I am not entirely in the dark regarding your situation, and I would be more than happy to talk things out. Of course, it is entirely up to you. You can join the site and we can message each other privately, or send me your email address and I will email you. We can also talk here if you prefer. I am happy you have removed yourself from the abuse. I know that was not an easy thing to do. I hope I hear back from you and good luck.
